Classroom Etiquette

&

Attire

Proper classroom etiquette and attire is essential to the education and training of a dancer and are provided to promote self-discipline and create a positive learning environment. We value all of our wonderful dance families and know that we all want the same thing from our dance class experience: to give our students the best possible dance education. The following rules are universal and are followed by all major dance programs and professional companies. We ask that you apply them at PSPA as well.

Thank you for helping us to reach our goals in a positive way.

*See below for dress code and classroom etiquette*

Classroom Etiquette for Dancers

  • Regular attendance is imperative to a dancer’s progress. Regular attendance builds technical execution, performance skills and confidence.

  • Please be on your best behavior before, during and after class. This will make you stand out as a serious and committed student.

  • Arrive 10 minutes early for class to prepare yourself. If you are late, wait for the exercise in progress to be over before entering the dance floor.

  • Water bottles are a must. Please bring your own water in a secure container to class to be used during the designated water breaks. Don’t forget to take your water bottle home with you.

  • Be appreciative of corrections and apply them as best you can. Students will progress faster if they can apply corrections.

  • Be kind to your classmates. A positive attitude must be kept at all times in the studio and the dressing room. Displays of rudeness are unacceptable.

  • Please label shoes (inside) and other personal items.

  • Dance shoes must be worn for studio use only. Dance shoes worn as street shoes (travelling from the car to studio) are NOT allowed in the studio.

  • Please turn off or silence cell phones.

Classroom Etiquette for Parents

and Class Observers

  • Parents and sibling who are observing class should remain quiet at all times. If this is not possible, please wait outside of the classroom.

  • No sitting on the dance floor.

  • Parents wishing to discuss their child’s progress with the teacher should set up a meeting through the office. You can call us at (310) 375-1398 or email us at office@pspadance.com.

  • For all registration and billing questions, please contact the office. You can call us at (310) 375-1398 or email us at office@pspadance.com.

  • No photos or videos of class without permission from the teacher.

  • Please turn off or silence cell phones while inside the classroom.

  • Appropriate dance attire is important for the proper training of a dancer. Our dress code is designed so the teachers can see posture, arms, legs, and feet in order to give the right corrections.

  • Students should arrive dressed according to the dress code.

  • All hair must be pulled back and off the face. See below for specifics.
