PSPA

About Our School

Peninsula School of Performing Arts was formed to bring high quality dance to children and adults in the Peninsula and South Bay areas. Beginning with Pre-Ballet then BAT (Ballet, Acrobatics and Tap), children are given a strong foundation of dance techniques mixed with creative movement and dramatic expression.

At age 7, the program expands to include full ballet classes and jazz. Based on the knowledge that ballet is necessary for all dancers, we encourage everyone to stay in ballet throughout their dance training. For those students who show a talent and love of ballet, we offer a full ballet program from elementary to professional level. In addition, serious ballet students ages 11 and up are considered for our affiliate ballet company,Dance Peninsula Ballet, Roberto Almaguer Artistic Director.  DPB is a member of Regional Dance America/Pacific and consists of about 30 junior, apprentice, and senior members.  Auditions are held in July and September, when we also audition our annual production of The Nutcracker.  Adults and children (ages 5 and up) are encouraged to participate in this annual family production.

We are pleased to offer four competition teams open to the students of PSPA. All dancers attend classes at PSPA and are invited to audition for any of the companies and teams. Electric Youth dance company under the direction of Dyan Lopez Fiamengo and Breeonna Fiamengo, has been in existence for 16 years and performs in their own showcase every year at the Norris Theatre. Breeonna's Elite Proteges founded by Breeonna Fiamengo has won numerous awards this year with her six member team ages 8-13.

Under the leadership of acclaimed dance teacher/choreographer Vanja Katrinov,VKDC, Visual Kapture Dance Company has taken its first steps to establishing itself as the cutting edge place for expanding the Art of Dance. Look for more information about these groups and their upcoming audition dates under Dance Companies.

We round out our dance program with tap, ballet, yoga, stretch, and jazz for adults and summer workshops for adults and children. An edited video of the dance recital is produced for archival and educational purposes and may be obtained from PSPA.

Please take time to visit our schools in Lunada Bay and the Peninsula Center and find a program right for you. For  auditions, program information, or to order a video please call (310) 375-1398 or browse our site.
